Milesh Tandukar

Milesh Tandukar is a distinguished classical musician based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is the founder/president of Pundit Satya Narayan Chaudhary Memorial Academy, and has a master's degree in Tabla from Ilhabad Sangeet Samiti in 2002 receiving a gold medal.

Son of a renowned multi talented instrumentalist, Sanu Tandukar, his musical journey began under the tutelage of renowned masters: Pandit Satya Narayan Chaudhary (direct lineage from Ustaad Ahmedjaan Thirakawa Khan Saheb), Pandit Homnath Upadhyaya, and Pandit Prem Chandra Ojhaiya. This rich lineage has shaped his classical foundation.

He has been playing classical tabla for many years with numerous artists and has gained proficiency in other rhythm instruments such as Pakhawaj, Djimbe, Congas, Cajon, Drums, Darbuga and ethnic percussions instruments like Mridanga, Khin, Dhime, Nagada, Joda-nagada, Joda-damaru, Madal, Dholak, Da:, etc.

Beyond rhythm as his main forte, Milesh is also involved in composing and writing songs and melodies. He has toured extensively around the globe (France-2004, Japan-2006,2016, USA-2010, Switzerland-2010 and India 1999-2000) and holds various national awards and recognitions. He has worked in many musical albums: Musical Journey to Shindhuli Gadhi, Voiceless Voice, Trinetra, etc.

Today, Milesh is not only a celebrated performer but also a passionate educator who has been teaching music in and around Kathmandu for many years, nurturing many fine students under his guidance.
